engine on 2005 Chevrolet Malibu

if there is metal in the oil what is most likely needed to be done?

If you have metal in oil then suspect bearings coming apart. Has this engine been overheated, ran low on oil, has bad oil pressure? Will need some disassembly to locate exact cause.

Try getting an engine treatment for around $24.99 at Jiffy lube.
