My Volkswagen Passat does not respond to me pressing on the gas pedal. It shifts and everything, but when I push the gas pedal, the engine does not race, and the car stays idle. There are no indicator lights that appear. Is this the electronic throttle control? Any suggestions? Thanks!

It can be several things, and the best thing to do is get it looked at so the problem can be found. There is likely a check engine light on and diagnostic codes stored in the engine control module, and that is where the mechanic should start their diagnosis.
