The truck starts however the tach and speedometer will not work but all other gauges are functioning. If I use the remote starter it will work normally most of the time. It usually works for a short time then the tach and speedometer fail. The truck has stopped once but restarts with no problem. Does anyone know if this is an electrical ground problem or a hardware problem? IE alternator or voltage regulator. Thanks

This is usually an instrument Cluster problem and is common on GM. Best to have your Cluster scanned and see what the is causing the failure, often the Cluster must be removed and rebuilt. I have had to do this several times in the shop where I work. Good Luck!
The anti-theft system may fail causing a no start condition, the security light may illuminate. Our technicians tell us that the ignition switch may need to be replaced to correct this fault.
