Many times when one of my doors is shut, the open door sign stays on & my doors wont lock & my interior lights stay on. I can lock the doors with the keyfob with the car in neutral. The problem can continue thatway for several days then go back to normal for a while. The car runs fine while this is going on.

I had the same problem twice. All the door would be closed but the interior lights and the door ajar sensor would stay on. After I had this checked out, it turned out to be the locks on 3 doors had worn at one time or another and had to be replaced. The techs mentioned they had a heck of a time getting to the bad locks. They say the locks on most Lincolns wear out quickly. After the locks were replaced that did the trick with the lights and door ajar problem.

The open door switch is worn out, they are part of the door latch/lock assembly. The dash will tell you if it is the driver door or a passenger door. Which ever one it says is open is the one that needs to be replaced. You can pull the interior lights fuse out until you get it fixed so you won't kill your battery all the time.
