2000 Mercury Cougar Question: electrical

alt overcharged ,blew up battery , battery & alt has been replaced , abs, brake & air bags lights want go off &interior lights want work .it blows fuse when I replace fuse for interior lights , I know I have a wire gounding somewheres but cant find it -

Take a look in the battery junction box - the fuse box under the hood. If you had battery leakage, it could have corroded or damaged wiring in or around that box, which could be causing a short. In my experience, always go to the variable. The area where problems once were. Sure you could trace all the wiring on each circuit, but in the end, most of the time you find the issues are close to where you previously had a problem. Good luck. -

The Tachometer stays at about 3100 and does not move an inch, until I turn off the car. I assume it is just stuck, since the engine is not idling high. What would make it stick?
