Question: electric fan shuts off and car overheats

My car is starting to overheat when I have the AC on and my Dad has seen the elec. fan come on and once the car begins to heat up the fan shuts off.

    make sure it is on, my cavalier has 2 fans (one for motor and one for AC) if the fan shuts off when the car is warn it can be a fuse, short, or relay... check for a blown fuse, if not the fuse take out the fan Relay and jump it (take a wire and connect the two bigger openings) if the fan stays on then its your relay... hope that helps
