MY lINCOLN TOWN CAR 1998 CONTINENTAL
TRANSMISSION IS JERKING, OR DOES THE
CAR ENGINE MISSING. i HAD IT TUNED 2 YEARS AGO AND REPAIRMAN SAID INJECTORS WERE OK, 1 OF THEM DIRTY, HE REPLACE IT.
IM REALLY PUZZED, COS THE JERKING OR MISFIREING HAPPENS ONLY WHEN YOU ARE GOING UP A HILL AND STEP ON THE GAS, IT
SEEMS LIKE IT IS MISSING. MY WORRY IS
DOES THE TRANSMISSION FRONT DRIVE CAUSING THE JERKINGS OR THE MISFIRING?
THANKS VERY MUCH

    Hey Mike,
These kinds of problems require driving the vehicle and performing some tests on the car. If you can pull some diagnostic trouble codes and post them, we may be able to give some advice, but for now, it should go to a shop.

I had a similar experience and had the transmission replaced and then it still continued. Finally diagnosed the problem as a bad coil in one of the spark plugs. The crazy thing runs great now.

How did you find the bad coil?

my mechanic said my 98 lincoln's jerking is most likely a bad coil not the trans, but with a ford unless you get a check engine light to show the code or the bad one, you have to ck each one. Anyone know an easier way to find the weak coil?
