Easiest way to change accessory belt tensioner on 3.1 1996 lumina? on 1996 Chevrolet Lumina

Was wondering if I place breaker bar into square slot and pull backwards, will tensioner click and lock back or do I pull it back long enough to get belt off and release it? Also, is installing just the reverse?

its easier with a ratchet but a bar will do but you will have to hold it back to get the belt off

Thanks for the reply. Part had deteriorated so badly that would not lock into slack mode.Tensioner pulley had cut groove in front cover, almost through. Finally got it unbolted, and new one went on without a hitch. Thanks again for the reply.
