2000 Ford Explorer Question: Driver's side door will not open with remote or key. What needs to be fixed?

The only way I can open the driver's side door is by opening it with the inside handle.

    poss broken door handle or unlock rod has come off release tab

    Door handle will open door when door is not locked. If its the unlock rod, is it easy enough for a novice to repair?

    YES PULL DOOR PANEL AND LOOK AT ROD,POSS ROD TO HANDLE CLIP IS BROKEN
