2011 Chevrolet Colorado Question: DRIVERS DOR WON'T LATCH

It sounds like the door striker on your 2011 Chevrolet Colorado is a bit to tight. I would think this is still covered by your factory warranty.

The dealership checked for alignment and said it was okay. When it gets above zero (or closer to 10 above) then it closes okay. Could it still be the door striker?

I see now that you say it is hard to close from the inside, Does it close OK from the outside? If so, that would mean the adjustments and latch are OK. Perhaps the rubber weather striping is not as soft when the temp gets that cold. Your truck is probably still pretty new, perhaps waiting to see if this will work itself out may be the best idea at this point.

Harder to close from the inside but this morning at 17 below it was really hard to close from inside and outside. Could it be sealed so tight that it has a harder time closing?

It sounds like the door is to tight. Double check with the passenger door. If the passenger door is OK then something is wrong with the drivers door. You may need to travel to the dealership on one of you cold mornings (or leave the truck overnight if necessary) and show them what is happening.

Morning. This morning it wouldn't latch at all. When I look at the door piece (white plastic)that is suppose to latch to the I believe metal striker located on the rear door - the white piece wouldn't move at all. I had to drive 8 miles holding the door shut (kinda of dangerous). So I don't believe the door is too tight now but something is wrong with the piece on the door itself.

Please get your Colorado to the dealer as soon as possible to get this repaired. From what you have described, I now believe the problem in side the door.
