Drivers auto repair changed oil on my son's Taurus a few months back. ( 2500 miles ago) One month ago, it was a quart low, I added one full quart. Well yesterday it would not start, starter gone bad. Battery checked, very good. So I checked for possible loose wire and found the starter and selenoid completely covered in oil. It lies just below the oil filter. Checked the filter and to my amazement it could be spun freely, it wasn't even seated. Explains 1 quart low in 2000 miles. I hand tightened it and had it towed back to Drivers auto on south Mason. (starter wouldn't even turn over) Well, there I had the extreme misfortune to deal with the "manager", Victor Vu. Victor took NO responsibility for the loose filter. He offered NO discount on repairs, just full list price. He even wanted to replace the oil pan gasket (at almost 400.00) because there was oil all over the oil pan. Remember, this is right behind and below the loose oil filter. Mr. Vu was extremely confrontational, rude, aggressive, unprofessional, sarcastic, and dishonest. He told me three times that the filter was tight, after I told him three times that it spun freely and I hand tightened it. The fact that the starter was covered in oil meant nothing to him.I ask him what responsibility the shop has for not properly tightening an oil filter. He would not answer the question. We did agree to let me bring in a new starter ( $85.00 from Advance vs. $210.00 his price). He did increase the labor though, from 113 to 140. No explanation as why... He also "threw in" a "free" oil change. As I was leaving, I ask for his business card. He gave me someone else's card. I ask again for his and he said he had none. So he took the card back and wrote his first name on the back of the card. I ask for his last name and he even argued about that. So all I can say is stay away from Drivers Auto repair on south Mason, and especially stay away from a very dishonest Victor Vu...
I took my Mazda in for a simple oil change. While I was waiting , the tech told me that I needed a brake flush and new brake fluid. He showed me one of those boards with different fluids and told me that my check engine light was on and that I needed a diagnostic at a cost of $119.00. I declined and told him that when I drove in there my check engine light was NOT on. When I got into my car, sure enough, there was the check engine light on. I went back into the shop and told them that what they are doing is wrong, and left. Do not go near this place, because they will rip you off. If I could give it no stars , I would. Also , I received the same confrontational, arrogant, dishonest , unprofessional attitude from the employee that another poster on this forum did.
