tou may have debri inside housing like coins. i have found this very common

Greg, How difficult is it to disassemble and lubricate? I jus t purchased this original one owner car, interior is like new...the belt is slightly frayed I think from taking it off to quickly and letting it go...thanks for your response

don't dissassemble take a can of wd40 with long nozzle and spray at each side of belt in housing and see if that helps b4 going thru all the work. try not spraying the belt itself

It may be twisted. Try pulling the belt all the way out and see if the belt is twisted.
