I brought my car into Dr. Floyd's garage to get a second opinion after Larry Miller Subaru recommended I have the head gasket replaced on my car during a standard oil change. I was very suspicious when they told me it would cost $1600. Dr. Floyd's Garage not only said a replacement was not needed, but also provided a hard copy photo showing me what the so-called oil leak looked like. He suggested monitoring it over upcoming oil changes and identified another power steering column leak that needs to be monitored. Neither leaks were worthy of immediate repair. I trust Dr. Floyd's Garage! I appreciated being treated with respect as a customer and not as an opportunity to get unneeded repairs at Larry Miller.

Mark at Dr. Floyd's Garage has been my go-to for car repairs for a couple years. He's always respectful and completes the necessary services quickly and without pressuring for more. I would recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Floyd's Garage is our go-to shop when we need regular maintenance or repairs. The owner, Mark is an excellent mechanic, communicates effectively, has our repairs done timely. Most importantly, he is honest. I completely recommend his shop.

Dr. Floyd was helpful and communicated, in detail, the work he recommended for my car before he did the work. My car was finished when promised and took less time than I expected given the work that was needed. The bill was itemized and easy to understand. The prices were reasonable. I will return for more work when my car needs it.

Dr. Floyd's always does only what is necessary and charges only what it takes. The integrity in service and pricing is rare these days. I highly recommend having your auto maintenance and repair needs met at Dr. Floyd's.

I bought a total lemon and after other professional and shade tree mechanics threw parts at it, I took it to Dr Floyd and he actually fixed the underlying problems. Sadly, the incompetent work performed prior to my purchase has left me with a string of parts failures which Dr Floyd has fixed. His repairs have been flawless, and I am grateful for him getting me in promptly and fixing the car reliably. He really knows cars well and can diagnose better than others. His prices are a little higher, but to me it's worth it as the fixes are rock solid. Finding a good mechanic is tough and I've been happy with his work. I don't feel exploited for being a female either. He has treated me fairly and been helpful with information.

My wife and I had been having problems with shifting our truck for park into gear. I said something to my co-worker about it and he told me that he had a good mechanic that could help. I called Dr. Floyd's and he was able to fix it for me at a fair price and timeline. I will take my vehicles back anytime work is needed.

He is just a very honest guy. I took my Corvette to two other places and I got astronomical quotes. I had a 1976 Chevelle with a heating problem; I thought, remove the engine and take the hood off, and he said nope, and it hasn't overheated since. The honesty and integrity with everyone in the whole shop is exceptional.

Idle speed to high? Really need a better description of whet is happening. does this happen while you are "driving"? or shifting from park to reverse or neutral to drive?
If your car is still under factory warranty and you don't want to void that warranty - Yes. If the car is out of warranty or you don't care - No. although it is highly recommended that you do use synthetic oil as specified by the manufacturer to ensure the best life and performance from your car. compared to a new engine the cost is negligible and you may see a decrease in fuel mileage using conventional oil. If you choose to use conventional oil and you do have a warranty issue the dealer will have your oil tested to make sure it meets the warranty requirements.

The only way I can tell you is to have the car so we can test it. by not starting do you mean it would not crank over or it will crank but not start?

The correct way to fix your car is bring it to a qualified repair shop, have them determine exactly what is wrong and work out a plan to fix it. it is absolutely impossible to tell you what needs to be fixed without an actual hands on assessment.

Sorry to hear you are having a difficult time with your Yukon. You nailed it! Intermittent issues are very difficult to pinpoint. I think the best option for you is to find a shop that is willing and you are willing to let them have it long enough to find the cause without breaking the bank. A good technician can find this problem for you.
Since we cannot diagnose your car over the internet, phone or any other means than actually putting our hands on it and testing it, I would recommend you choose a Repair Pal Certified shop and have your car professionally diagnosed and repaired. As for telling you how to diagnose and repair something on your car - Sorry, No. We are professional repair shops, this is how we earn our living and have invested considerably in education, tools, equipment and so forth, this knowledge is not free.

New car with 1300 miles on it is under warranty - get it to your local dealer to have them diagnose and fix. unless of course you hit something to cause this issue, bring it to a competent shop. Unfortunately we cannot diagnose your car over the internet, phone or by having a conversation, a technician will have to experience this deep rumble to have any idea where to start the diagnosis.

There are so many differences from year to year that it would require someone with extensive knowledge of the Ford 4.2 liter engine and all of it's different configurations. I would have to go on the internet to research this as I am not a "Ford" interchangeability authority. there are many forums that could answer this question for you, Sorry.
My expertise, as with 99% of all repair shops, is in diagnosing and fixing your vehicle.
car slows down as if braking engine drags ...
Sorry, I don't quit understand your question or comments. Do you mean the brakes are locking up? as in they grab so hard the wheels skid? or are you saying they don't work? what do you mean by "car slows down as if braking engine drags to a stop"?
If they are locking the wheels when you apply the brakes - No, low fluid cannot cause this.
If they are not working when you apply the brakes - Yes, low fluid can cause this.
If the fluid is so low the brakes have stopped working, we need to find out where the fluid is leaking at and fix the leak.
New alternator and battery.
The two are not related, just a coincidence. there is no battery power to the fuel pump or anything related to that repair. all power in that area is switched by the ignition switch.
Had to get a tranmisson pump and oil pump ...
Engine only to rebuild including no labor to remove & replace or related parts is about $3000.00 on up depending on exactly what you want, this does include the oil pump as no rebuilt engine will not include one. total job will be $6000.00 plus.
Transmission pump is something we do not work on.
