The locking and trunk closing assist system on that vehicle are done with a pneumatic system. It is a fairly complicated system of pipes, solenoids, connections, and pumps. There is a pump motor under the rear drivers seat this can be reset. if the problem persists one of the hoses is likely to be leaking and needs to be identified and replaced. If the pump is faulty it can be recon'd they are expensive new - jardine
