drivers door latch will not catch how do i fix this

Sometimes the latch will get out of sequence compare it with the passenger side latch, If the latch is in the closed position you need to use a tool to pull on it while holding the handle and it should pop open

my drivers door does not always latch when closed. Usually occurs first thing in the morning. I then drive to work (10 minutes) holding the door closed. Then it usually closes and latches properly....
The car key wont allow me to lock/unlock my car from the outside, as well as allowing me to turn the key. The power locks from in the inside work fine. The key is not bent or in any kind of damage.
