2004 Toyota Corolla Question: dome light will not come on with door or switch, has voltage at light bulb good
Answer #1pushrod December 15, 2013, 06:23Master
Did you try a new bulb just to be sure? The on/off switch on the dome light itself may be defective, or turned off.

The circuit changes depending on whether you have power door locks or not. Without the power door locks the door switches control the lamp directly, with them the lamp is controlled through the integration relay box. Your dash light dimmer control should be able to turn the light on in the high setting with either system.

The car does not have electric door locks, manual locks, manual windows. The dash light dimmer will not turn on the light, when any door is open the "open door" indicator light is activated, so I know those switches are working. So you say the dome lamp is controled directly from the door switch. so do the door switches go through the dimmer switch, then to the lamp. I popped out the dimmer switch, and looked inside, there appeared to be a plug further in with the same color wires as the dome light. and thanks for the help

my mechanic said it could be the light switch that's not turning it on or off.I'm having the same problem. did you fix yours?
