WHAT IS THE LIFE OF A TIMING BELT AND THE COST TO REPLACE? ALSO WHAT IS THE LIFE OF A CHAIN AND THE COST TO REPLACE?

    It's a timing chain-----yes it will last long if you maintain your engine

    THANKS FOR YOUR HELP. SO THE PATHFINDER HAS A TIMING CHAIN AND NOT A TIMING BELT. DO YOU HAVE A GUESS HOW MANY MILES THIS IS GOOD FOR?

    4.0l or 5.6l both have timing chains. 3 to be exact.1 primary and 2 camshaft chaines. With Nissan"s in particular if oil changes aren't done at proper intervals and wrong viscosity the primary chain tensioner goes bad causing excessive chain slack. Very costly. Depending on shop labor $800-$1000. Parts $300-$400

    Well over 200,000 provided you change your oil every 3000 miles with conventional oil 5000 miles with fully synthetic oil.
