That car had an option of with or without theft deterant. Most with had a gray plastic handle on key and the ones without are black plastic and are smaller in size in comparison. If it is a no start issue and its a theft system it normaly would show a theft deterant light flashing in instrument cluster when key is on.

thanks :-) i dont have a key to car, i bought a bunch of cars from a repo place and this is one of them. car looks good but has been sitting up for at least 8 eight years and probably closer to ten years lol. are any of you locksmiths for autos we used to make keys and there was a "cheat sheet" for lack of a better name lol that would give you the two middle cuts on key. u can get first four from door, and last four from glove box lock, and knowing those this sheet gave the possibilities in ascending order for middle two cuts. sure would be helpfull if i had that info so could make this key without spending too much money on blanks trying to guess two cuts. thank you for your time.

I would say odds are that year would not have theft system. Used to get dealer to cut key by having the VIN # but nowdays they won't do that for liabilty reasons and new laws. If you could pull the ignition lock cylinder you could put another in that comes already keyed.
