The best advice is to get the car inspected by a competent technician at a shop that knows Toyotas and get their opinion on the condition of the car. You should also ask for a complete service history. If the history of the car isn't known, you're running additional risk.
The only warranty for the car will come from the manufacturer or an extended warranty, if it is transferable. You will want to have documentation relating to either.
