The airbag control module can fail prematurely due to electrical noise beyond the tolerance it was designed for. As a result the front airbags, side airbags, and/or seatbelt pretensioners could deploy inadvertently while the vehicle is being operated, increasing the risk of personal injury and/or a crash. Dealers will replace the airbag control module and front and/or side impact sensors as required to correct this concern.
Upon deployment the driver's front airbag inflator could rupture, increasing the risk of personal injury. Dealers will replace the driver's front airbag inflator to correct this concern. Note: this recall supersedes, in part, recall #14V-354.
Because of an undersized spline on the rear axle pinion gear the pinion nut can loosen. If the pinion nut loosens, the rear axle may seize, and/or the driveshaft may detach resulting in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will install a retention feature to the pinion nut to correct this concern.
The clutch ignition interlock switch can fail due to broken return springs. A failed switch can cause the engine not to start or the vehicle to move unexpectedly when trying to start the engine. Dealers will replace the clutch ignition interlock switch to correct this concern.
This limited regional recall is for vehicles currently registered or first sold in southern Florida, along the Gulf Coast, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, Saipan and American Samoa. Upon deployment the passenger airbag inflator could rupture, increasing the risk of personal injury. Dealers will replace the passenger side air bag inflator to correct this concern.
A system fault within the vehicle's Occupant Restraint Control (ORC) module may disable the frontal and side airbags, as well as the seat belt pretensioners, which aid in restraining passengers in the event of a crash.
Vehicles equipped with a diesel engine have an electric fuel heater. The electrical connectors may overheat. If the connectors overheat, the fuel heater may leak fuel, increasing the risk of a fire. Dealers will replace the harness side connector with a silver plated beryllium copper terminal service kit, and inspect the fuel heater for leaks, replacing it as necessary.
If the ignition key unexpectedly moves to the OFF or ACCESSORY position, the engine will turn off. This will depower various safety systems including but not limited to airbags, power steering, and power braking. Loss of functionality of these systems may increase the risk of crash and/or injury in the event of a crash. The weight of extra items on the ignition key ring can be a contributing factor to this unexpected occurrence. Until this recall is completed customers are advised to remove all other items from the ignition key ring. Dealers will modify the ignition switch to correct this concern.
This limited regional recall is for vehicles currently registered or first sold in Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii and the U.S. Virgin Islands, and equipped with Takata-brand air bag inflators. Upon deployment the driver and/or passenger airbag inflator could rupture, increasing the risk of personal injury. Honda dealers will replace the affected airbag inflator modules to correct this concern.
The power brake booster in these vehicles uses vacuum developed by the engine to provide power assistance to the braking system. Certain vehicles are being recalled because the shell of the vacuum brake booster can corrode and allow water to get inside. The water inside could freeze and limit ability of the brake booster to provide brake assistance. This reduced braking ability can increase the risk of a crash. Dealers will test the brake booster and replace those that fail, and all vehicles will have a diverter shield installed on the brake booster to prevent this from occurring in the future.
