Dodge Ram Van 2500 Problems

Transmission noise when reverse is selected
Some vehicles may exhibit a "buzz", whining", or "moaning" like noise from the transmission when reverse gear is selected. The condition is caused by a resonance of the transmission regulator valve system. Our technicians tell us that the repair involves replacing the transmission regulator (aluminum) valve with a steel one.
Intermittent cycling of power door locks
Intermittent cycling of the door locks especially during damp conditions may occur. Our technicians tell us that revised door and liftgate lock cylinder switches are available.
High Blower Only Due to Failed Blower Motor Resistor

The HVAC blower may operate on high speed only. This is commonly caused by a failed blower motor resistor. Chrysler has released a revised part to address this problem.

Dodge Ram Van 2500 Recalls

Chrysler Recalls 2001-2002 Dodge Models Because Park Shift Interlock System May Fail

Chrysler is recalling certain 2001-2002 Dodge Dakota, Durango, Ram 1500, Ram 2500, and Ram 3500 models because the park shift interlock system may not function correctly. When this system fails, the shifter can be moved out of the "Park" position with the ignition in the "lock" position. The ignition key can also be removed when the shifter is not in the "Park" position. Either of these conditions could allow the vehicle to roll away unexpectedly, possibly resulting in a crash. Dealers will replace the gearshift blocker and bracket assembly.

Handicap Conversion Vehicles: Wheel Chairs Not Secure In Retractors

The retractor that secures a wheel chair in a handicapped conversion vehicle may be ineffective. Dealers will inspect and replace the wheel chair securement retractors as necessary to resolve the concern.

Dodge Ram Van 2500 Reviews

Love it, lots of space. Gets 18 to 20 mpg same as most mini vans. Cheaper to own than mini van. Easy to maintain, can do most maintenance myself. The vinyl interior is great with kids and animals. Enough horsepower to tow trailers. Nice to travel in, its like a little RV. This is the third dodge van I've had. Put over 250,000 on first two before I sold them.
My B2500 has 220,000 + miles on it now and I drive it 5 days a week. 5.2 liter (318 CID) still runs smooth and strong. Still looks and drives great. It stays LOADED with tool bins and ladders. I have only performed normal maint on it ( brakes, tune up, fluid/filters). Only recurring problem has been the HVAC blower motor/switch/resistor assembly, but that's not too bad for a 16 year old work v...
Currently my van has 112k miles. Bought in Apr 1998 brand new 1997 Dodge B2500 V6 3.9L conversion van from Sunnyvale California Dodge dealer, mainly because Toyota would not take back my leased Tacoma 6mo early so I could buy a new Avalon, but Dodge bought me out of my lease early and paid me cash for the options I added as a trade. In Nov 1998 had leaky drips during rain from front windshield ...
