2008 Dodge Nitro R/T Problems
RepairPal has identified the most common problems with the 2008 Dodge Nitro R/T based on complaints from actual vehicle owners. We'll tell you what the problem is and what it'll take to fix it.
The inside and outside rear door handles may stop functioning. Our technicians tell us the repair involves adjusting the door latch adjustment screw.
Owners may experience one or more of the following conditions: Transmission shifting issues, torque converter clutch apply issues, fault code P0741 (torque converter clutch performance), and a vehicle surge condition. Our technicians tell us that in most cases these issues may be corrected by updating the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software.
A weak or dead battery may be caused by the radio not powering down correctly. If the backlight is flickering every 20 seconds that would confirm the fault and the radio would need to be replaced.
The overhead video screen may not power on, updating the video entertainment system software may be necessary to correct this concern.
The remote start or keyless entry system may not function at times. A service repair kit is available which should correct this condition.
The anti-theft system may cause a no start condition due to electrostatic discharge (ESD) affecting the wireless control module (WCM). There is an updated WCM to correct this issue.
The radio sound may mute intermittently and/or the temperature display may display a metric (Celsius) reading when the display indicates English (Fahrenheit). Both of these conditions can be corrected by updating the radio software.
The courtesy lights and liftgate ajar light may illuminate intermittently. Our technicians tell us that switching the wires at the liftgate ajar switch connector will correct this condition.
