Dodge Magnum Recall 08V295000
Rear Axle Hub Nuts May Not Secure Rear Axle
Drive Train, July 1, 2008
RepairPal Expert Overview
Our Quick Take:
The rear axles are secured with a fastener called a hub nut that is fastened in a special fashion. On some vehicles, this special fastening method was left out, which could allow the axle shaft to separate from the wheel hub. If this happens, you would experience a loss of power and vehicle acceleration.
What Should You Do?
We at RepairPal have designated this a high priority recall; an insecure axle nut may cause a serious safety issue. Please contact your Dodge dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
The axle hub nuts on the rear wheels may not be crimped properly, which will allow the nuts to loosen and possibly allow the rear axles to separate from the hubs. This will cause a loss of power and vehicle acceleration. Dealers will replace the axle hub nuts. The Dodge recall number is H23. This recall began during July, 2008.
