RepairPal Expert Overview
Our Quick Take:
On certain vehicles, the liftgate pinch sensor on the right side may not function properly. As a result, increased effort may be necessary to stop the power liftgate during final closing stages.
What Should You Do?
Chrysler will notify owners of affected vehicles during May, 2012. If you are experiencing problems related to the power liftgate, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It’s helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
Certain vehicles may have been manufactured with a right side liftgate pinch sensor that does not function properly. As a result, increased force may be required in order to stop the power liftgate during its final closing stages. If the power liftgate were to close on an appendage, personal injury may result. Dealers will replace the right side liftgate pinch sensor to correct this concern. The Chrysler recall number is M17.
