Dodge Charger Recall 08V583000
Gearshift Position Display May Be Incorrect
Drive Train, November 10, 2008
RepairPal Expert Overview
Our Quick Take:
Vehicles with a column mounted shifter may display the gearshift position incorrectly. This could allow the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction, increasing the risk of a crash.
What Should You Do?
This should be considered a high priority recall. The vehicle could move in an unexpected direction without warning. Please contact your Dodge dealer. They will check to see if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. Always have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
On vehicles equipped with the police option package and a column mounted shifter, the gearshift cable may become disconnected from its mounting bracket, causing the position display to be incorrect. This can result in the vehicle moving in a unexpected direction, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will add a redundant locking mechanism to the gearshift cable at the mounting bracket. The recall is expected to begin on November 10, 2008. The Dodge recall number is H37.
