My wife (of course) took our van in for the Missouri safety inspection. Dobbs did not pass it and came up with the lame excuse that we needed just under $500 in repairs. Why is it always slightly lower than $500. Anyway, I said no, went and picked it up, and took it to our trusted mechanic from our previous location--we had moved. It passed and I gave him a $40 tip for working us in right away.
You know that feeling you get when the mechanic tells you something needs fixing but you didn't know it was broke? This happened twice with this shop. The second time, I was told I needed a $650 fuel pump because they couldn't get my car to start. I took it to a guy who works on these cars on the side and he replaced two sensors for $150. Nothing wrong with the pump.
A previous time, they fixed one thing, but my radio no longer worked.
When I bring my car there to fix a specific item, they usually do a good, on-time job, but I don't trust this Dobbs shop.
