I purchased my explorer used and heater control valve had been removed, I knew a part was missing because vacuum line was plugged off. I just recently found out what it was for. the heat & air seem to work good without the valve. do you think I should install a valve?
Do I really need a heater control valve? on 2001 Ford Explorer

It will improve the function of the heat and especially the air cond. system by restricting the flow of HOT coolant from entering the hvac system. IF you are happy with the A/C temp, then no, you do not HAVE to install one. However the A/C will/should be colder with it present and working!
