Question: Do I need a plug in factory made hole in what appears to be fly wheel cover

It is located behind engine in front of transmission

    Perhaps just clean the surface and put a strip of duct tape to cover the hole. A plug may stop debris or a nut or bolt falling down the hole with the engine s running.
