no but honestly some times it seems like it would be easier. a wire coat hanger can help feed the belts where you cant reach. i always keep one hanging on my box. and a few good universal sockets and wobble extensions can help greatly

im not a mechanic but my brother is and when we replaced the alternator in my wife's 2000 ford escort zx2 we had to dismount the motor and jack it up. I never saw a mechanic go through so much trouble to change an alternator. I replaced an alternator in an 84 camaro and it was so easy. Im not a mechanic and it was the first time i had ever changed an alternator and it was a piece of cake and took me 30 minutes top. i will never attempt this job on an escort zx2 by myself. ridiculous.
