Question: Digital thermometer and compass don't work any more

The electronic compass and thermometer worked on and off for a while. I was able to get them to come on by pressing the selection button several times. But now they won't come on at all i.e., the display stays off all the time. This is the electronic display mounted on the roof above the wind shield. Do I need to have it replace? I checked with a repair friend of mine and he said the unit costs just under $300 dollars. I have a very good extended warranty that may cover it. What would it cost to replace it? This is a 2002 F150 Crew Cab.

    Are you sure the dimmer switch isn't turning the illumination of the display too low? It can happen.

    Haven't seen this fail before, but that doesn't mean it can't fail. I would recommend having it checked out prior to going for a replacement.

    As far as price - we have no data here to estimate that specific repair. Sorry!
