Can you see the information at least faintly? I'm wondering if it's the back illumination that is not working or the message center itself?

My biggest recommendation here is that you seek some professional help, since the communication cables in the back of these clusters are fragile and can be damaged upon removal if you don't know what to expect when you remove the cluster.
