If the fluids have never been replaced, then this is a good recommendation. While these fluids last much longer than engine oil, they still wear out and become contaminated just the same, so it's good to replace them periodically.

two weeks ago I had a 20004 Toyota Sequoi in for dealers service - 1 to replace warranty recall of front suspension lower ball joints - front and rear brake pad replacement and resurface front and rear drums-(to address brake light intermittently staying on also had the vsc/vss ;light on - The dealer replaced the ecu skid conrol - at cost of 669 parts total 883 with labor -

two weeks later I am driving the auto when pressing gas pedal I hear a consistant thud noise in left front engine - similiar to the thud thumping noise of a flat tire - the noise increased with increased pressue to the gas pedal

I tow to dealer and and after several days am advised that I need a rear differential replacement - upon further inquiry I am advised that there is water in mine - do I own a boat - would like to however dont own a boat - upon further question - head service technician states to asst. service manager - that it appears someone replaced the rear differential fluid and did it so quickly they did not even wipe it down .

The dealer investigated and advised after they pulled the drive shaft and looked in the system there is a broken gear..and I now need to pay 1500 for the part and 500 for the labor -

with all the work done the prior week - could this problem be related in any way -

and how much water could wreck this system - oddly we have a local lake with many boat docs not more than 5 miles from the dealer -
