My camry starts great but dies when I shift into gear. We just replace the shift silenoid (?) because that is what the code said to replace.

I'm sorry but without the original code number it's a little hard to help. Did the car die before you put solenoid in?

It was running but would not shift. My son is attending mechanics school and has a computer for such. I only know that the code was for the shift silenoid (?). Now when you start it starts great but as soon as you shift into gear it shimmy's, the rpm's drop and it dies.

It dies even if you try to press the gas pedal? You need to scan it again. Not just on the OB2 side, but on the enhanced side. What kind of a "computer" is your son using?

The equipment is not sufficent to do proper diagnoses. You need to be able to look at the OEM (enhanced) side. Does the car die when you give it gas (press the gas pedal).

Thanks. We will ahve to get it to someone who has the ability to check the enhanced side. Any idea what it might be? Just so I know where to look. Thanks again

Once you get more code(s) hopefully I can be more helpful.
