They did what was asked but caused new problems never had before. So they did as asked but didn't check or care enough to tell me that oil pressure fails at idle after warming up. Could have been a faulty sensor but was never checked. I have since replaced the sensor and the same problem. If as much money as it cost to do the simple task replacing gaskets and oil pressure sensor. Valve cover not head gasket. I'd be too afraid of a bill that had some mechanics actually done. Oil pressure was never a problem before the visit. I guess the main issue is i was never told which tells me the test drive never happened or they didn't check or care to tell me. I kinda expected either fair price honest work.

We have reached out to Steve to discuss the matter and get a better feel for what he was experiencing. Unfortunately one of the parts he supplied failed after picking up the vehicle causing the oil pressure light to display. We did council him over the phone, and suggested he return so we could investigate the issue. Part of our Quality Control process is to have the technicians and service advisor test drive all completed vehicles prior to customer delivery. We stand by our quality of service and repair, and while we may not be perfect, you can always expect us to make it right!

I called the afternoon before I brought my car in. I explained that I had an hour and a half window to get the oil changed on my car before I needed to leave for school. The person working said, 'If we can't get an oil change done in that time, we've got a problem.' The next day I went in and it took well over that time for my car to be finished. Disappointing considering that Dave's has been prompt with service up until now.

Always like going to Daev's Automotive. Particularly impressed with the fact that they always treat me fairly and with respect, and I don't feel like I'm being talked down to even though I'm female. Particularly impressed with Josh who told me honestly that my car was going to have ongoing issues and repairs and that I should get a new car and trade that one in. They could have made thousands of dollars off of me, and Josh honestly told me the problem. Will be a loyal customer there as a result. Well done.

Electrical issue with the A/C required the dashboard and center console to be removed. I had to return the car once to have the AUX connection in the center console reconnected. Spent time this past weekend reconnecting the power to the cigarette lighter in the center console since they had neglected to do that when they reinstalled the console.

My wife brought her car in for the 60K service and an alignment issue was not found. I'd expect checking over the car would have found and suggested that fixed. Costco ended up finding it and we had to take it to another location to get it fixed as we didn't have time to get it back to Dave's given schedules.

I brought my vehicle in to this location to have the frame checked to make sure there was nothing wrong. This was going to be a new purchase and I wanted to double check. My car was serviced without my notice and when asking about it the reason was because I gave the wrong phone number and there was no way to contact me. My email was on there as well and I never got an email asking either. I contacted the shop and spoke to the manager the next day and he told me I could come back in and have the car put back the way it was previously. He did have some attitude as I assume there have never been any problems with customers or their cars before. I understand that Dave's Ultimate employees felt like this was dangerous and needed to be addressed. I came to pick up the car that evening, after hours, and was driving home and noticed that my car was pulling hard to the right. I called back the next day to let them know this issue and I was told I could bring my car back in. Upon looking at the paperwork the manager told me that this mistake was "on us" and that the alignment measurements were off. He told me I could bring my car in the next day. After the second day of having the car being looked at and fixed I tried to make it up there before closing. I was not able to speak to anyone about the issue. I took my car to a local shop to have the oil changed and tires rotated. When the employees of this shop tried to rotate my tires they noticed that I actually needed a key to take the rims off. When they looked under the car they noticed the tie rod was extremely loose/broken. I was told that could be highly dangerous if it were to come off. When I called Dave's to speak to the manager I was told if this is the case then a part would need to be ordered. I was also told that this is not their fault. They were the LAST company to do any type of work on the car which involved the alignment. This was several weeks ago. I still have yet to hear back about the problem and what is going to be done. I am upset with the way this situation was handled and would not like anything to do with this company in the future. I am led to believe that this incident was neglected by Dave's Ultimate Auto and should have been addressed. The manager told me that the loose tie rod situation was not on them- even though they serviced the car without my permission. Good customer service and work is hard to come by and it looks like there is some help that needs to be given in this area of your establishment.

Jim and Josh made it right. They let me borrow one of their mechanics to go for a ride in my car so that the mechanic could really figure out what was going on, rather than me trying to explain some abstract scenario to them. They put my car up on the rack, figured out the issue and then I asked the same mechanic who drove my car previously to drive it again to make sure that the issue that was there before was gone. It was gone, I also drove it and the issue was fixed. No cost to me, as previous work was under warranty. They made it right. At the end of the day, that is all you want... for it to just be right.

I called that morning around 8am, to get my oil changed. You were booked but said bring it in, and originally said it would take all day. I had nothing better to do but work on my laptop and hang out in the lobby.

Within about 2 hours I was out of there. The atmosphere is light, friendly, and fun while they do a great job to take care of their customers!

I called the shop and was told I could bring my car in the next afternoon. When I showed up they said they were booked and couldn't get me in until the following week. I was not pleased. Then when I did bring the car in for repair, the main thing I asked to be fixed (the low tire light) was NOT fixed when I picked up the vehicle. I had to turn right around and come back to the shop so they could complete the repair I had already been charged for. Again, not pleased.

I bought a used car in San Antonio on Thursday that began to fail the minute I drove away. My mechanic in North Austin couldn't get to me until the following Thursday so, based on reviews, I contacted Dave's Ultimate Automotive in North Austin. I paid $111.68 for them to tell me what was wrong with the car. When "Jim" called me he gave me the green light on some of the things I was sure were wrong with the car. When I went to pick the car up, "Blair" confirmed that those things were indeed wrong (wheel bearings!) and needed to be replaced immediately. I asked that the estimate/evaluation be amended that I receive a copy. I was told it was emailed to me. It was not. This may not seem like a big deal but it cost me hugely. That day, the guy who sold me the car was amenable to either refunding some of my money or making good on repairs as long as I could provide him with documentation. Since I never got anything from the shop as promised, I couldn't provide anything to the seller and by Monday, when I STILL hadn't received a thing, the seller wasn't willing to do anything. I lost all my momentum because DUA didn't deliver as promised. When they saw the car I had owned it for less than 24 hours. By the time I had to contact them again and get them to send the information, I had had the car for over 3 days. That and the fact that I couldn't even get the straight skinny on my car when I PAID is unconscionable! I would NEVER use or recommend your shop, and quite honestly feel like I should have my money refunded!

I went to have an oil leak fixed. They did not attach the plugs back correctly so I had to return. The next day I checked my oil because I was going to drive out of state and it was over 2 quarts short. It seems like common sense that if you take your car in for an oil leak that they would top you off before returning the car. I didn't expect that I would pay almost 600 dollars for a repair and then have the car returned to me without the proper level of oil. If I had not checked the oil I would have been on the road in the middle of Texas with a blown rod. I think this was horrible service. I will not be returning to Daves again.

I usually have a great experience with Dave's. But this time, I had requested that my tires be balanced and rotated, because I was experiencing a bit of a wobble. I asked them to check the car over, as usual, and let me know of anything that needed attention. The wobble is still there, so either it was the tires, and wasn't properly addressed, or it is something else and was not properly addressed. Also, a headlight was out. The headlight may have happened just after I got the car back, that is possible, but it certainly does make me wonder. But the wobble is still a problem. It is a disruption for me to take my car in. I'm a sales rep, and need it functional and safe, and need to make sure problems are addressed when I take it in, because I can't do my job without my car. I can't just take a taxi to work. In order to have this addressed, I will have to take another day off to get this looked at again.

This is the original Dave's Automotive, servicing the Austin area since 1997. Their second location (also in Austin) opened in 2008. This shop has a team of very experienced technicians, three of whom are ASE certified (two Master Techs). There is only one sensor. Located on the left rear top of engine block. Held on by a single bolt that goes through the middle of it.

A po725 is set when the tcm does not recieve a proper voltage signal from the ecm. Most likely cause is an open or short in circuit or a bad harness connector.

The engine symbol is a check engine light. Comes on when the engine control module sees an issue with either a systems efficiancy or a sensor faiure etc. The ECM sets a code and turns the light on.

If all do not work it is the fuse, switch or an open circuit before or right after the switch.

The back up light fuse is located in the underhood fuse and relay box. It feeds the lighting control module. Check that fuse first. Beyond that could be a control module issue or a broken wire.

I would agree with the starter diagnoses. It is about the right mileage for having worn contacts in the solinoid portion of the start. These contacts pass the power to the motor part of the start as it draws the gear out. So what you get is a hard click with no motor action. usually a few turns of the key or a tap on the starter while someone turns the key will get it going. An easy voltage test while it is acting up can confirm. I doubt the clock is in any way related to starter issue. The loose or bad gas cap can deifinetly cause those codes. If the cap was an issue the computer should reset the light after enough drive cycles to pass its own self test.

No. running out of gas can not cause overheating. Overheating can be caused by several things. A radiator leaks is one possibility, Others would include leaks from water pump, hoses, heater core etc. Could also be a bad thermostat or even electric fans not coming on. Need to have problem properly diagnosed and then determine if this is also causing your dieing issue. Would recommend not driving until you get it figured out. Does the temp gauge work? Or does it just have a temp light?

Could be a variety of reasons for this. We have seen Vehicle speed sensors and or gear, speedometer head or even a unified meter control cause this kind of issue. Most common is a Vehicle speed sensor (VSS). Need to check for codes in computer. If it has a P0500 most of the time that turns out to be something with the VSS. If not would need to run some tests to track down problem.

Brake fluid gets low normally from filling in the space behind the caliper piston as brake pads wear, If you see spots on the ground you should get it checked as soon as possible. If it is leaking and being low is not from normal wear it could be dangerous. This type of thing is a free visual insection.

One thing most people don't realize is that for the most part factories do not make their own parts. They source them out to different places so in some cases the aftermarket part is the same as oem. There are some cases I recommend going with factory parts so you get the exact part that came with the vehicle like sensors and some seals. In your case after market would be fine but I would go with new over any re manufactured parts and I would look for a higher quality than Auto Zone like NAPA.

Could be one of a couple of things. May be low on water / coolant. Check the level when it is cold. If it is low and that fixes it you need to check for a leak. The other possibility is a partially clogged heater core. A partially clogged heater core does not allow enough water to move at idle so the air blowing across the heater core cools the water to fast.

Probably not the timing belt. A tooth or two jump may cause a compression variation accross all cylinders bot not create a no compression issue on just two. If the cylinders are right next to each other could be a head gsaket problem. If it is the back two cylinders only may even be a broken cam.

Could just be a weak battery not holding a charge. A battery will typically start to lose health after about two years of use. Other things we have seen are stuck relays running fuel pumps or air suspension. Possibly a trunk or glove box light stuck on.

Several possibilities. Most common reasons are a bad temp sender or the wire that goes to that sender. Other possibilities would include being low on coolant so that the temp sender is not immersed in water and can't read. Something in the cluster or just a bad gauge. Testing is pretty easy and of course if it turns out to be low on coolant you need to look for aleak.

To narrow down the problem would have to ask several questions. Do you hear blower motor just no air comes out? Does the a/c compressor come on and you feel cold air just not blowing? Not 100% sure if this is true for a 1995 Altima but for years Nissan has used a plastic insert on the brake pedal that pushes the brake light switch button. This insert gets old and crumbles allowing the brake light switch button to just go in the hole instead of being pushed off. Just look at the brake pedal and follow it up and see where it contacts the switch. If the switch is being pushed off then it could be the switch itself or a short in that circuit.

The check engine light comes on when the vehicles control module sees a problem. It starts flashing when the control module sees a problem that is potentially damaging the catalytic converter such as a continuous misfire. Depending on how far you have to go it would probably be OK to drive it in. I would avoid highway speeds and limit it to a few miles. I doubt it is any kind of misrepresentation. Could even be as simple as a plug wire or coil pack did not get on a plug properly during service. Did you get any tune work done. If so I would check that first.

In cases like these the most common problem is something electrical like a module or a fuel pump. Gets hot, heat soaks when you shut it off and wont work again until it cools down. Need to catch it in that act to diagnose properly.

Do you have specific trouble code you are dealing with? Sometimes a code can point to a problem such as and egr valve or O2 sensor and what the code really means is that there is a problem with that system. Such as a clogged egr passage or a lean condition as apposed to just a part failure. Would need more information to get you a better answer.

This can be as simple as the bulbs are burnt out. Inspect the bulbs. If they look like they are still in good condition then there could be a multiple of things that has caused the problem. Would recommend taking to a repair shop and have them check the electrical issue.

ABS is Antilock Brake System. It senses when the wheel (s) are locking up and then pulses the brakes to keep traction. When the light is on the ABS is off but the brakes will function. Need to check codes with a scan tool and the trace the problem based on the code. Wheel speed sensors are a common failure.
