I just bought a 1999 Jag XJR today and the warning lights on the dash keep going on and off. Check engine, Coolant low, etc. Everything has been repaired on the car. All fluids are full. A newish tranny was just installed. How do I get the idiot lights to stop blaring at me? Also, how do I program the garage door openener if I don't have a seperate remote for the door? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Oh, one more thing. The key fob doesn't operate the door locks or trunk. Do I have to go to the dealer to have that reprogrammed?

Programming the garage door remote may be covered in the owners manual. Check here http://repairpal.com/automobile-owners-manuals-online or try this link you may be able to down load a free copy of the owner's manual for your vehicle http://www.autousermanual.com/
A scan tool is needed to retrieve codes false or otherwise that may be the problem. The V8 engine had water pump problems, transmission problems, some timing chain tensioner problems and brittle coolant plastic lines at the expansion tank. I found remote reprogramming procedures on a Jaguar specific forum before but I forget which one.
