dashboard lights and gauges on Dodge Magnum
31 people shared problem details
When driving my magnum at random times all my dashboard lights come on and my gauges drop to zero. As quick as this happens, it stops. problem can occur when I hit a bump driving or sitting at a red light. Have had it to the dealership and had the computers updated, but this has not helped. Codes indicate a possible need to replace the FCM Module and the IPM module, but service department is not confident that will resolve the problem. Said it may be a bad battery which is only three months old. Any thoughts on where to go? Replacing the computer modules is very expensive.

Have same problem. dealer has no answer. Happens while driving, however if I accelerate quickly all goes to normal until I go a steady speed again or slow down. I happens every other week, and than not for another month or 2 and then 2 to 3 times a week, then good for a while again. All dash lights come on and all gauges drop to zero and turn signals become inoperable when this happens also so be careful. I tried to change lanes on a highway thinking the car had an issue only to find out I had no turn signals until lights went out. It would however leave the traction control off light on telling me it was disengaged until I turned the car off and restatred it, so you need to be careful since traction control really is off when the light comes on, and the dash switch will not re-engage it at this point until you turn off and restart the car. Very dangerous this winter in snow! Spun out 2 times going a steady speed at 15mph because rear tires would break loose and loose grip since traction control was turned off without warning! This is a safety hazard and still no recall. I guess when someone dies, maybe it will mean something, or not. Maybe it takes 200 deaths like GM to count as a problem!

Had this same exact problem. Dash warnings all lit up, gauges dropped to zero, and the engine died. Opened the rear end fuse box and replaced the #8 fuse (15 blue) and everything fired right back up. Manual has #8 listed as Ignition start/run. Hope this helps!

Gauges would always jump at startup, which was no big deal, then one day while driving home my speedo started jumping around. This happened for a few days, with it always going back to normal. One day it just stopped working, and hasnt worked since. The dealer want $150 to tell me whats wrong with it, sorry guys, im not rich enough to throw away $150, so its been over a year now that it hasnt worked. Sucks...

While driving all my dash hazard lights will light up at once and the gauges will drop to zero...but at the same time my heater blower will shut off. Same with our 2007 jeep wrangler! What is going on!?!?

I have had the exact same electrical problem where all gages and air condition blower go off and back on quickly. Car can be setting in park or going down highway. Dealer wasn't able to get the magnum to repeat this problem and did not run a computer check.
Randomly all my dash lights will start flickering all at once and my a/c with stop blowing temporarily. As soon as it starts with the flickering it stops. Again it does this randomly, never predictable. WE have had it in the shop twice and they say nothing is wrong. I would love to know what is wrong!!!!

The same thing that the first guy in this reports is happening to my car. " When driving my magnum at random times all my dashboard lights come on and my gauges drop to zero. What's worse is I just bought this car three weeks ago for 15,000 at a Lexus dealer in Orland Park Il.

Randomly the dashboard will have all the idiot lights light up while the gas gauge, speed, rpm and temp gauge drop to empty, 0, 0 and cold. If the heater is on the blower turns off. If the heated seats are on they turn off. This lasts for a few seconds before resetting back to normal. You do have to turn the heated seats back on. The dealership wasn't sure what was wrong. They guessed at a potential fix involving replacing a sensor and maybe some rewiring but the $ they estimated was insane. I tend to think it's a computer (chip) problem that all these sensors are routed through but what do I know.
I HAVE NO SOLUTION IM LOOKING FOR ONE MY ON BOARD LIGHTS ALL CAME ON WEND DRIVEING FLASH FOR 5 SECOND. WHAT HAPPEND. THANKS.

same thing need help 2 fix
Can C goes down with the exception of the SCCM. Vehicle will restart which should not be possible. I went to the original factory class on the LX bodies and asked the same instructor about this problem child and me said it was impossible to start a car with can C down, yet I have one. I've been with Chrysler for 18 years, but I am stumped on this one. Unplugging a module does not bring it back, voltage does not change on the bus as it goes down. I've swapped out the FCM, replaced the front PDC, and the unified body harness after getting the bus to come back to life wiggling it near the battery althought there is no corrosion damage.

This is my wife's new baby. She drives to Seattle everyday in stop and go traffic. We live about 35 miles from her job. About 15-20 miles in, when she has to come to a stop, all the dash "Warning lights and alarms" come on and the gauges will go from zero all the way to the highest point and back to zero and then normal. This is usually very intermittent and happens whenever it Wants to. So far, when I have driven her to work, it has done it and when it did it to me for the first time, the traction control light stayed on and so did the Assisted Breaking System *(or on dash it reads BAS)* it tends to do it a couple times and then just stops. It seems to be triggered especially if the headlights are on, the heater is running, the radio on, etc. So, I did Not see por Feel, Any drop of powe and when it stopped, we just went on. A couple times now, it has died as my wife is pulling into her work at their parking lot. I have Never had it die on me. The other night it did it in a drive thru and I turned off the heater put it in park *(took my foot off the brake)* and waited to see if my headlights would dim...NO Dimming of lights...so I revved the engine a bit and after it went through about Three seperate cycles of all the lights and alarms and wacky gauges, it was fine. I should note **it seems like, when the car gets turNed Off and you restart it...it resets itself** I have already replaced the battery with a Much higher output and it helped for a while. Then it came back...just after one of the last episodes, I went to Auto zone to have the charging system checked with their machine and without any start, it read that my 1 Month old battery...was Good, but needed a slight "Charging" then I started the Magnum and the lady was checking the alternator...everything was at 14.3 volts, then she asked me to turn on some accessories like, the radio, heater, headlights and push on the break. She said that she watched the meter go from 14.3 volts and start declining with each thing I turned on...all the way until the meter showed 10.4 volts. She thought maybe the alternator then. I went to a "Specialty" mechanic shop with All the Newest High Tech computer diagnostic systems and they ran it for a while...because They can Pull Up Any History of Any Problem through the systems...All Stored Data must get Erased by the Computer because it showed NOT ONE THING!!! The Only thing that Ever came up...an error code with the Stereo! The guy that used to own the car before we bought it from the dealership, had a flip up dvd player installed and I took that out Yesterday and unplugged Everything. I found that the Idiot that Installed the dvd player used a T-tap kind of connector to splice the wire into to ground the dvd player to the brake. WHY NOT JUST GO DIRECTLY TO THE ACTUAL GROUND OF THE BRAKE...NEVER USE A T-tap...They Come Loose and you Lose Contact. Anyway, I am going to take it out some more and see if the idiot installer may have "Helped" to cause some of these probkems??? However, it is sounding More and More like this is just a Common, Very Frustrating Reoccurring Problem!!! I have my recall notice for the airbag...maybe the dealer in my area will have One Once Of Brain Power to Help figure this out??? I hope it works...because my wife's life is Too Important to me...to have something happen to her because of Such a Stupid Glitch like this!
