2000 Ford Escort Question: Cylinder #1 not firing.

hammer495, 2.0L 4 Cylinder DOHC, Chesapeake, VA, October 26, 2009, 19:41

Code says #1 cylinder not firing change plugs, wires and throttle position sensor but when I remove #1 oil was all over threads and point gap. Car hard to start runs rough and sometimes cut off when idling and coming to a stop.

you valve cover gasket needs to be replace, the oil is preventing the spark plug from firing you have to change the valve cover gasket or you can clean it with brake cleaner but it will happen again.
