Sounds more like an axle problem, with the parking brake applied engine off turn the wheel fully on side and then the other, inspect for obvious damage to the axle shaft or CV boots. Do you hear any repetitive clicking sound as you take a hard turn in a parking lot if so the joint is bad. Wheel bearing would have excess play or cause a noise when the wheel is loaded on a turn at speed. Any of these problems should be easy to check.
