my cruise control light will not go off on a 2002 vw jetta 1.8t. it also sputters on the pick-up

    Are you sure the Check Engine Light , amber light with an electric spark logo , is not on? It sounds like you are experiencing a misfire which would trigger the Check Engine Light display. If so you need to use a scan tool to determine needed repairs.
    Typical failures include coil packs. The scan tool will specify the cylinder(s) involved.
    The cruise light says "cruise" in , I believe , amber letters. If the cruise light is indeed on you should still scan the vehicle to see what's what.
