It happens when I am slowing to a stop. This sound is similar to what you would hear from an old door hinge if you were opening or closing it slowly. It is not a high pitch sound. It is more of a mid range or lower frequency range sound. Any thoughts on what may be causing this? Thanks!!

Very good description, a high pitched squeal would be the squealer on the brake pads starting to touch the brake rotor. Your car could have brake drums or discs on the rear depending on model. I would disassemble the rear brakes and inspect particularly if your car has drum brakes at the rear I think you have dust in brake drum, sand the linings and see if the noise goes away or changes.
