CRANKSHAFT SENSOR on 1992 Dodge Dakota

IS THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR SUPPOSE TO TOUCH THE FLYWHEEL AS IT TURNS TO CREATE THE PULSE SIGNAL

no, there is supposed to be an air gap. Roy

i have replaced the crankshaft sensor with one i bought at autozone and the magnet in the tip is not as strong as origianel from dodge.should i get one from dodge origanal equipment?
