cranking problems on 2000 Mercury Villager

was runnin fine now cranks and then stalls.changed fuel filter.

Sounds like there may be a whole bunch of air getting into the intake that doesn't belong. Check for an air intake leak. You could also have a fuel pump concern. If there are no obvious air leaks or vacuum leaks, have your fuel pressure checked.
