crank shaft pully bolt on 1998 Mitsubishi Montero Sport

how do i hold the crank shaft to get the crankshaft pully off

Often at the rear of the engine you may have an access shield that allows you to put a small pry bar in to engage fly wheel teeth or a flex plate bolt. If that fails you may be able to put a serpentine belt around the crank pulley grooves and clamp down hard on the belt with a large slip joint pliers.
I have several special tools designed specifically to remove crank pulley particularly if the pulley has what looks like bicycle spokes.
