If the engine cranks but does not start, it may be caused by a tripped inertia switch. Switch the key to "ON" and the fuel pump should be heard running for a second or two. Listen at the gas filler if necessary. If you do not hear the pump the inertia switch should be reset, it will "click" when it is reset.

Wouldn't start after a 20 minute drive. Thirty minutes later, it started fine. Drove it to repair garage where it sat overnight. Garage staff reports it ahas started fien everytime they've looked at it. They ran tests on fuel pump, checked filter, still starting fine. I hate problems like this.,

same cranks but no start. sometimes you wait 10 to 30 minutes an starts sometimes overnight 2nd to last time was 3 days then started. Now has been many more days than that. Have spark plugs are wet after cranking. replaced both fuses in panel under hood. There is no inertia switch on Mazds? Now a person said that there is a 2x2 black box under steering wheel that is a relay and he replaced that and there was not another starting issue for about a year, then it did it again and his daughter replaced that box and it started right up. What and where exactly is this mysterious relay under steering wheel? Will be watching and thanks Ther
