Cost to replace Timing CHAIN. on 2003 Volkswagen Jetta

Want to replace everything that's likely to fail first time car is in shop.

Check out the common problems page for this car on RepairPal. That may give you some things to look at when it's in. Not sure of what the cost on timing chain is . . . but that's only something you'll want to replace if it fails, which should be rare. I believe this is the VR6 chain-driven motor. If it has a belt, you can find that in RepairPal's estimator:

typically a timing chain will not fail...and usually if it does, this indicates a deeper problem...And like the last answer said, this only needs to be fixed if it has already failed
