I brought my car in to have an over sized drain plug (placed by Cornerstone) inspected for damage to pan. Previous mechanic had to "suck" the oil out for fear of stripping the pan. When I picked my car up I was overcharged for oil change, approximately $35; Bruce's response was "that's what the other guy charged you" ... the previous guy had to "suck the oil out". I thought Bruce was trustworthy, his business claims to be Christian, but I no longer believe that. I will never use him again, or recommend him to anyone.
They came highly recommended to me and my experience with them has been very pleasant. I found them to be a company of high integrity and trustworthy. They explained everything to me that I needed done to my car and why. Also let me know if it was safe to delay certain things til later. I was provided transportation home and back so I didn't have to wait. I really like their monthly newsletters and especially appreciate their special offers.
I had been quoted a price and when I asked how much when they finished it was 50 dollars more. It was a basic job, just wheel bearings. I told then what I had been quoted and they did adjust it but on a simple job like that, for me that's a bit of a flag with mechanics. I asked them to leave my keys in a place so I could pick my car up due to my commute and job schedule. I had paid over the phone and when I got to the shop, my keys were not there, and my door was unlocked. It was a huge inconvenience and was my first experience. They did take the car to my house for me and have me movie tickets but it makes me nervous that I cannot depend on them to deliver when I need them to.
Well I've lived in Oceanside for 7 years now and thus far this is the best shop I've found. I always bring my car's here if its possible anymore.
I have several repairs done by them and it has always been quality work at a fair price.
On more than one occasion I've essentially had them tell me they can't find anything wrong and it all turns out to just be nothing which is always good. Much better than the alternative of just coming up with something to say that is wrong when it's really nothing and doing unnecessary work.
Finding a decent mechanic you can trust is difficult at best and usually takes a few visits before you really know for sure. I'd say I've been here a half dozen times at least and they never disappoint. If you need a mechanic go see them, they will give it to you straight.
I've also been to carr's right up the street and needless to say I won't be back to see them again. You can checkout the reviews on Google and will clearly see why.
After 7 years I have my goto mechanic. Give them a try and you'll probably have your's as well.
