2001 Pontiac Grand Am

Question: coolant

Question

Visitor, 3.4L V6, Arlington, TX, March 26, 2010, 09:15

I'm having to add lots of coolant about every two weeks. No leaking under the car. I have over 125,000 miles. It is not over heating. Any idea where the coolant is going? Thank you! Charolette

Sometimes coolant leaks when you are driving and you may not see the leak, so it needs to be checked properly for leaks. This is done with a pressure tester. Another possibility is that the coolant is getting into the engine and is being burned during combustion. Depending on how much is leaking into the engine will depend on if you have white smoke coming out of the tailpipe and if it is overheating.
Either way this is going to need to be thoroughly inspected by a shop, here are a few in your area: http://repairpal.com/directory?address=76014&car_brand_na...
