1998 Cadillac DeVille Q&A

1998 Cadillac DeVille Question: coolant

i just bought a 98 cadillac deville , is has green egine coolant in there, but the car orginally takes orange dex-cool, should i change it back to the original brand? If i change back to the orignal orange dex-cool whats the consequences? -
Answer 1
All coolants are very similar. If your owners manual says use dex-cool then use it. If it does not specify, you are safe to use any type of coolant. I recommend buying a premixed 50/50 solution. -
Answer 2
There shouldn't be anything wrong with that. The problem is if you use dex-cool which is rated a lot longer than traditional coolant and you mix them the dex-cool loses its superior performance. So just use dex-cool and when adding only use the same and it will last longer. -
