With my transmission failing and a referral, I had my 2003 GMC Yukon XL towed over 80 miles to Convoy Auto Repair because I knew it would be repaired correctly the first time. David searched for and installed the best highest quality parts at the best price. He also suggested ways to ensure extended service from the new transmission. They kept me informed all the way through the repair.
Since then, I have referred this shop to many friends that frequent the San Diego area. Convoy Auto Repair does the job right and offers unparalleled customer service at a fair price.
Very professional, honest, and no nonsense or gimmicks. I'm in and out quickly, parts and labor are at a very reasonable prices. Its nice to finally have a reliable place to take my vehicle to and not have to shop around. Convoy Auto Repair treated me with respect and explained any and all options before performing work to my vehicle. It's a great comfort to know that my vehicle is in good hands and that it doesn’t cost me an arm and a leg to get the service I deserve. I highly recommend Convoy Auto Repair.
I went by Convoy Auto Repair last June to have them look over a used car I was considering to buy which took about 4 hours and cost me about $90.
The people there were very friendly and provided me with a list of things that needed to be done on the car which was just regular maintenance things. They did mention that there were indications that the car had been in a small accident because the hood of the engine was not completely aligned with the frame, but other than that they didn't notice anything.
However, 9 months later I find out that the air filter on the engines air intake was completely missing, that the core support beam under the radiator is completely missing and because of it the radiator is hanging loose more or less just by its hoses. The front bumper is also loose and there are indications that the airbags might not work.
I can forgive them not seeing the air filter was missing because I have been told its really difficult to see, but a through inspection of the engine room from above and below should have revealed that the core support beam was completely missing and the radiator was hanging loose. Its safe to say that had I known this I would have realized that the person selling the car was scamming me by selling a damaged and unsafe vehicle, and I would not have bought the car which is gonna cost me several thousands in repairs.
It started with a phone call about smog. They walked me through what I needed to do and set me up with an appointment for the very next day at a competitive "out the door" rate, no extra certificate fees, or any of that nonsense.
Then on the way there, the front wheel fell off the vehicle on the freeway. I called to cancel the smog test but I saw "tow service' and remembered they're a full service garage. So when I called, I told them what happened. They had a tow truck on scene to my husband in under 10 minutes.
The tow truck driver located the tire and loaded the vehicle with no drama, and brought it to the garage. The initial once over suggested they may be able to have it fixed by 3pm, on a holiday weekend, but in case they couldn't they would provide us with a rental car agency. So they gave us a courtesy shuttle home from the garage.
After a more critical inspection, the damage was more extensive than could be handled safely with simple repairs. Replacements were suggested for several parts, and the reasons were explained in common language I could understand. The quote was reasonable and covered only what I was asking for, not other issues I knew already existed - but were not affecting safety or basic performance.
They then sent the courtesy shuttle back to pick us up at home and took us to the rental car agency. The rental car agency we used was just as friendly and easy to work with.
Car repairs are about so much more than the bottom line. They made this near catastrophe into a bump in the road, with pleasant smiles, superior customer service, and trustworthy business practices.
