Very professional and reasonably priced.

by - Verified Customer April 11, 2017

They had the part as they promised. When I expressed some concerns the mechanic and the manager took time to address them and the mechanic took the car back to make sure again that the replacement was working properly, all this time being polite, engaged and professional

I like the fact that they are approved by AAA and give a 10% AAA discount (up to $50). It's also a plus that they give a ride home and pick you up when your car is done. Most importantly, you can rely on them to get the job done right.

It's not fair to say it wasn't fixed the first time, it was just a matter of having a part that was under warranty fixed...Which they did, to my satisfaction.

It was easy and fast, no sales pressure from staff. Explained process and results with clarity.

Very kind and courteous. Allowed me to break my appointment up into two visits, seeing how I couldn't be without my vehicle. They actually finished the work earlier than expected, at a lower price than expected. I have found a great, honest mechanic. I'll definitely be going back for any future problems.

Convoy Auto took my car in without any notice. They did the Smog check and oil change I asked for. They inspected the car. The Front brakes needed work. There were some other less important discrepancies noted too. They completed the brakes and alignment by the end of the day. My wife was so happy they did the repairs. She said 'It acts like a new car!'. We opted to wait for the other repairs. I know why I keep going back to Convoy Auto!

Work requested was performed properly and on time. Did not appreciate being told after the fact that hoses should be replaced after the radiator was filled back up, which creates a whole new job, especially when I am paying per hour. Also did not appreciate paying more than twice what I could have purchased fluids on my own.

A timing belt failure does not set any codes specific to the belt. But if the belt brakes the can sensor will register a fault because it senses something out of range. From here you will need to replace the failed belt and then see if any damage has occured to the valves once the mechanic timing is corrected.

As for the timing belt we strongly recommend replacement along with all the underlying components at 90,000. Timing belt failure will lead to valves bending which becomes a major repair.

Coolant leaks are considered critical on any vehicle. The first step is to perform a coolant system pressure test. This test will pressurize the system so that external leaks can be pin pointed and the correct repairs can be made.

Intermittent problems are frustrating at best, especially when it is your daughter’s car, I know. Most Ford intermittent starting problems can be duplicated when the shop follows the same scenario that triggers the event. Depending on if it is a “No crank” or a “Crank but no start condition” it can generally be duplication within the same day. Even though it was 90+ degree day I believe it is a “Hot soak” problem. The first step is to have her drop off the vehicle at a shop willing to spend the time and effort to duplicate the problem. Then proper repairs can be made.

The problem you have described can come from many different sources. It could be the coolant temperature sensor not communicating to the cars computer the correct coolant temperature and therefore the computer cannot properly adjust the idle until warm. Idle air control motors are also common to fail. This type of failure can be diagnosed using the proper equipment. Most shops would require the vehicle to be dropped off the night before so that testing can be done while duplicating the problem in the morning as described. Even if it is intermittent the test procedures cold will most likely show the source of your problem.

All the national labor guides show 7.0 hour per side. The manuals all describe that cylinder head removal is required. I have just recently completed a left side manifold replacement on a 4.7 Tundra and there is a way to remove the manifold without removing the cylinder head. It is still quite difficult but can be accomplished in half the time and at a substantial savings over “book time”
power steering very hard
First check your power steering fluid. If it is full then you most likely have a problem/s with either the power steering belt had broken or the power steering pump and/or the power steering rack and pinion have failed. Sometimes this is more evident when the car is cold and as you drive it appears to work a little better. If the fluid is full it will then require a technician to runs dome diagnostic check and then make repairs from there.

What you are describing is brake pulsation. This occurs when the disc rotors become out of round. This condition is caused by the friction that builds up during braking which heats up the rotors and as they expand and contract the metal distorts and the end result is brake pulsation.

This is a common occurrence and with the proper equipment the rotors, provided they have the proper amount of metal remaining can be machined and balanced with a computerized lathe that machines and true’s them on the car. It is called the Pro-Cut. This device is required by most manufactures. The brake pads will be replaced at the same time thus restoring your brake system by to the original condition.

The first step is to diagnose the vehicles electronic transmission control unit and electronic solenoid operations. This will in turn determine the source of the problem. This test runs $ 89.95.

Both contributors have very valid points. The real issue is your “Right to Repair.” Many vehicle owners mistakenly believe (and may have been misled by the selling dealer) that they must return to the dealership for all scheduled maintenance and/or repairs to keep their warranty in tack.
This is only correct if you are obtaining warranty repairs from the manufacture or recalls. You have a right to select any qualified repair facility to do any maintenance service that the manufacture requires and/or any repair your vehicle needs. All you do is simply keep your records of service and all warranties stay intact.
The dealership has a very high overhead with their vast operations and quite frankly the $300.00 they bill is a fair value based on their high operational expense, but why should you contribute to this?
This is why the independent repair community can save you thousands of dollars over your vehicles life. We simply have lower overhead.
But be careful, all independents are not equal and the lowest cost is generally not your best choice. Be sure the shop has recognizable credentials like AAA Approved Repairs (Automobile Club). ASE certified technicians and preferably ASE Master Certified Technicians. Check how many years they have been in business. What is their warranty, look for a minimum of 1 year and 12,000 but more so 2 years, 24,000 miles. This will help you select a seasoned professional you can count on for the life of your car and save thousands.
So love your Hyundai and stay away for the deep pocket dealership.

Great description! The noise you have described can come from a few different areas. It could be tires that have abnormal wear, brakes rotors, disc pads and/or bearings. It would require a complete diagnosis to pinpoint the exact source and the proper repair procedure. This testing runs $ 39.95 and is no charge with repairs.

The light can not just be "turned off.” This is a safety feature and the light is on because in the event of a collision the air bag/s will not deploy. The Safety Restraint System (SRS) will need to be diagnosed to determine the source of the problems and the correct repair. The diagnosis runs $ 59.95

The PO303 will need to be diagnosed. You could have a compression problem and/or a no spark condition on that cylinder. Based on your description of "loss of power" I would start with a compression test on all four cylinders wet and dry to verify the internal integrity of the valves and piston so you can eliminate any problem there. Then if the compression is good I would move onto checking the spark on cylinder #3.

Always a hard question. Testing the vehicles power and grounds to the actual window switch is step #1. This verifies that the fuses are good, the wiring from the fuse panel to the switch is good and that the switch itself is good. Assuming all those test out the next step is to remove the door panel to test the window motor, inspect the regulator and make the final determination on what does need to be repaired.

This is a very reasonable price. It is on the low side of the Estimator if you use that as a range guideline. Be sure the products and labor have at least a 2 year / 24,000 mile warranty.
When the shimmie is not present under that speed and goes away above that speed is almost always tire related. My recommendation is to have you tires inspected by Discount Tire, Balance as/if needed. Then if you still have concerns it will need inspected by a repair facility

Based on the fact that the engine cranks eliminates the battery as a problem. Most likely it is some type of input signal that has gone bad or a fuel problem. Either way the vehicle will need to be diagnosed to make the correct repair recommendation.
Yes, I would consider it dangerous. The light is warning the driver that in the event of a accident the air bag may not deploy. This, depending on the accident will lead to potential serious injuries to the driver and/or passengers

PO301 (Cylinder 1 misfire) can be caused by many different causes many of which requires testing to get to the root causes. Replacing the spark plugs is alway a good idea from a maintenance viewpoint and if simple a easy test to see if one of the plugs may be the problem. After that I would recommend to have your vehicle tested and not to spend additional time and expense for parts that may not fix the problem.

Good question. In the handling of used brake pads and/or shoes they are considered hazardous waste as they may contain asbestos. Each shop independently decides how they chose to handle this material. Some pay to have them hauled away and some get paid to have them hauled away. If the fee was part of the total parts and labor quote you authorized (less sales tax) then it is perfectly legitimate. If it was added to the final bill is is not.
